  • A psychiatrist has a medical degree and can prescribe medication. A psychologist can diagnose mental health conditions. A counsellor utilises talk therapy to assist clients to find a resolution.

  • When we first meet, either online or in-person, I will spend some time getting to know you and to hear your story and get a sense for the issues that are troubling you. Then together we will start to explore strategies and start walking down the path of healing.

  • It is my hope that you will feel significantly better after your first session. On average, clients have 6-8 sessions and may return to counselling in the future when another issue arises.

    Sometimes you will need several sessions to process your circumstances and feelings to find the best way forward.

    Most people attend counselling on a regular basis but we can formulate an appropriate schedule based on your individual needs.

  • No, you do not need a referral from your GP.

  • There are no rebates available for these counselling sessions.

    However, my session fees are very affordable and are comparable to the out-of-pocket gap payable to psychologists after a Medicare rebate claim.

  • All your counselling sessions are completely confidential, just between you and me.

    However, it is important to note that our ethical and legal state guidelines require disclosure if there is a potential for self-harm or harm to another person, or if case notes are subpoenaed by a court of law.

    You may also give written permission for notes to be shared with other professionals if you wish to do so.

  • Yes, online sessions are available along with normal face-to-face appointments at my office in Karrinyup.

  • I understand life happens and sometimes you can’t keep an appointment.

    If you need to cancel or reschedule and you provide more than 24 hours notice, there is no charge.

    Appointments that are cancelled or missed with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full cost of the session.
